Entry requirements

Domestic entry requirements

Domestic students must:

• Have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in a cognate field of study (counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, social work, pastoral care, social welfare, mental health or palliative care nursing, medicine, occupational therapy); and
• Complete an Inherent Requirements Checklist and Personal Statement; and
• Provide contact information for two (2) referees (professional within a helping profession) who can comment on your suitability to enter into counselling. Referees will be required to complete reference report on your behalf

Please note: It is a condition of progression in this course that students complete a national police record check in their first trimester of enrolment.

International entry requirements

International students must meet one of the following requirements:

• Completed a Bachelor degree in any field from an accredited institute of higher education; or
• Completed an Inherent Requirements Checklist and Personal Statement; and
• Provide contact information for two (2) referees (professional or personal) who can comment on your suitability to enter counselling.

Please note: It is a condition of this course that students complete a National Criminal History Record check prior to enrolment into the second unit of study. For more information, read the FAQs.

Minimum English Language Requirements

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0 (completed in the past two years); or
• Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic PTE score of 59 (completed in the past two years).
• If an alternative to IELTS or PTE is being supplied as part of the application, please read more information on English Language Test Equivalency.
• Overseas qualifications must be deemed by ACAP as equivalent to Australian qualifications.
• The accrediting body may have additional requirements, including minimum English language, to meet professional accreditation standards. For more information on meeting those requirements visit pacfa.org.au.

• Completed an Australian Bachelor degree or higher, or an equivalent qualification and/or professional experience.

The following is supplementary to the above entry requirements and is designed to guide applicants and the admissions team on acceptable admission and articulation pathways:

• Equivalent professional experience 5+ years of professional and/or managerial work experience in related fields such as business management, financial management, leadership, human resources and people may be considered professional experience equivalent to a Bachelor level qualification.
• Entry pathways Students that successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration offered by ACAP University College may articulate directly into ACAP's Graduate Diploma of Business Administration or Master of Business Administration.

International entry requirements

International students must meet the following requirements:

• Academic entry requirements Completed an Australian Bachelor degree or higher, or an equivalent qualification and/or professional experience.

The following is supplementary to the above entry requirements and is designed to guide applicants and the admissions team on acceptable admission and articulation pathways:

• Completed a Certificate IV or above (or equivalent); or
• Successfully gained admission to an undergraduate degree at an Australian University (or equivalent)

Domestic students must also:

• Participate in a screening interview (typically by phone)

International entry requirements

• Completed a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (or equivalent); or
• Successfully gained admission to an undergraduate degree at an Australian University (or equivalent)

International students must also:

• Be 18 years or above on arrival to Australia to commence studies; and
• Participate in a screening interview (typically by phone).

Minimum English Language Requirements:

• Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5 (completed in the past two years); or
• Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic PTE score of 52 (completed in the past two years).

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by ACAP as equivalent to Australian qualifications.

• A substantial portfolio of work evidencing at least 3 years relevant industry experience.

International entry requirements

International students must meet the following criteria:

• An Australian bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification.

Minimum English Language Requirements International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0 (completed in the past two years); or an equivalent accepted English Language test as specified in ACAP's English Language Test equivalency tables.

Entry pathways Students that successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting offered by ACAP University College may articulate directly into ACAP's Master of Professional Accounting or the Graduate Diploma of Professional Accounting.
