Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree or equivalent.

AND

Applicants will also be required to demonstrate a suitable degree of mature life experience, including self-awareness, a capacity to relate to others and an understanding of ethical behaviour.

Admission into the Master of Counselling requires a selection interview with a member of the Counselling staff. At the interview the applicant will be required to demonstrate a suitable degree of mature life experience as defined by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

English language proficiency

Evidence of English language proficiency either by satisfactory completion of previous secondary education or higher at a recognised institution where English is the sole language of instruction and assessment or by completing an English language test with a minimum score of 7.0 or higher in each component (listening, reading, writing and speaking) of the Academic International English Testing System (IELTS) test or equivalent upon application.

  • Applicants to the Doctor of Education Award are expected to satisfy the following criteria:
    • Possession of a research Masters degree by thesis or dissertation appropriate to the professional field of the applicant; or
    • Possession of a Masters degree by coursework appropriate to the professional field of the applicant completed at a superior standard; or

In addition to the English language proficiency requirements set by the University for entry to Notre Dame, Nursing applicants must also meet the English language requirements set by the ANMAC. This ensures students are eligible to register as a nurse or a midwife upon completion of their studies. Students must provide the following in relation to this:

  • A signed declaration that English is their primary language; or
  • Evidence that they have achieved the minimum English language test results as specified in the NMBA's English language skills registration standard.

Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Nursing, and must also meet the following specific requirements:

  • Must have completed an Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council Accredited Diploma of Nursing HLT54121 or HLT54115 (in the previous 10 years)
  • Evidence of registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Enrolled Nurse (Div. 2) free of conditions, notations or undertakings

Notre Dame offers a pathway for Enrolled Nurses to gain advanced standing for the Bachelor of Nursing, completing the degree in two years of full-time study. The program includes flexible study options and a dedicated orientation week to prepare students for university study.
