Admission criteria

What you need in order to get into this course. There are different pathway options depending on your level of work and education experience.

Specifically, a Bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution in a field relevant to health management, health administration, business administration of healthcare organisation, clinical governance, medical administration, human resource management for health, health information management, health financial management, public health and leadership in health policy

AND

work experience equivalent to two years full-time professional or volunteer experience. Work experience may also include equivalent professional experience acquired as part of a degree of four or more years duration (e.g., MBBS, MD)

OR

an undergraduate degree plus an honours or postgraduate degree in a field relevant to health administration, health leadership, health services management, health information management, business administration, public administration, public policy and public health.

Available only to applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Students who are interested in joining this course need to come along to an admissions and information workshop. At this workshop you will sit an admissions test, have an interview with staff and find out more information about the course.

Applicants with higher education are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, such as a university degree. This may include applicants who are currently studying a higher education course at another education provider and want to transfer to Curtin University, or applicants who are currently studying at Curtin but want to switch to a different course. It may also include applicants who have completed past study with university and non-university higher education providers.

Curtin course switcher criteria

The Undergraduate Certificate in Health Promotion will enable entry (and credit for the four units completed) into the B-HLPROM Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) at Curtin.

Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met. All Curtin courses have compulsory and other core capabilities that are essential for demonstrating the achievement of course learning outcomes and graduation. Students who are unable to meet or demonstrate those requirements, now or in later stages during their studies, may seek reasonable adjustments by the University wherever possible to facilitate alternative ways of achieving those requirements. If reasonable adjustments cannot be accommodated, Curtin will discuss study options to find an alternative course of study or an exit degree. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.

A bachelor degree in a related discipline including public health, human biology, food technology, environmental science, biology, chemistry and allied health.

The Environmental Health Australia Accreditation Framework stipulates that applicants are required to have at least one full-time semester in core science subjects such as chemistry, physics, biology, anatomy and physiology, life science and microbiology. Graduates without these core units, or graduates with a degree from other disciplines, may be admitted following successful completion of prescribed units.
