Admission requirements you'll need to meet for this course.

• The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic admission requirements band section below.

  All applicants are required to have a Bachelor of Education. Alternatively applicants can have a Bachelor level degree in any other field, plus a Graduate Diploma of Education or a Master of Teaching. Special entry may be considered for students with a Bachelor level degree in another field, or a three-year trained teacher, both supported by extensive professional experience, with equivalents considered.
  One or more of the specialisations in this course has admission requirements. Refer to the specialisation for more information.

  Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience.

• English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.

1. Applicants with recent secondary education (within the last 3 years)

Applicants who have recently completed Year 12 and meet the following criteria can apply for entry into this course.

Admission Criteria

Evidence of successful completion of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education to Year 12 or equivalent*, including Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English and an ATAR of 68.
*This includes all Commonwealth, State and Territory final year secondary school certificates of education as well as an International Baccalaureate (IB).

Students who have completed their secondary education overseas, which are equivalent to an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, will be assessed for their suitability for the course on a case-by-case basis.

2. Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET/TAFE) Study

Applicants with previous VET study who meet the following criteria can apply for entry into this course.

Admission Criteria

Full or partial completion of an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent) in any discipline.

OR:

Full completion of a Certificate IV in a related discipline.

3. Applicants with Higher Education Study

Applicants whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course and who meet the following criteria can apply for entry into this course.

Admission Criteria

Full or partial completion of an Australian Higher Education award (or equivalent).

OR:

Completion of two units of Higher Education studies.

OR:

Completion of a bridging or enabling course, for example, Foundation course or equivalent.

4. Applicants with Work & Life Experience

Applicants who have left secondary school more than three years ago and who have not undertaken VET or higher education study since then can also apply for entry based on other evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent, for example relevant work or life experience.

Admission criteria

Five years (minimum) work/life experience in Human Services or similar.

OR:

Applicants that completed an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate more than two years ago.

PLUS:

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English (or equivalent).

Students who have completed relevant prior tertiary studies may be eligible for some credit exemptions. This is further outlined in the Awarding of Credit Policy.
The granting of credits will be made in accordance with the ASWEAS 2012 Guideline 1.3 on RPL, articulation and credit transfer.

Applicants who fall under the following categories will be encouraged to discuss their admission and course options with the admission team prior to applying. Each application will be assessed on merit and the applicant's capacity to successfully complete the course will be carefully considered in this assessment. The categories include, recognition as an Indigenous Australian, applicants whose school or home location is in rural or isolated areas, applicants with non-English speaking background, applicants with difficult living circumstances that have impacted their preparation for post-secondary study, applicants with disadvantaged financial background and applicants with a disability or medical condition affecting their education.

• Must be 18 years or above AND

• Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent AND

• IELTS Academic Test Score of atleast 5.5 or Equivalent (Not Applicable for Australian Residents)

There are no formal entry requirements for this course; however, applicants should demonstrate the ability to perform tasks as required by the industry.

IHNA Admission Requirements

• Successful completion of the Australian Year 12 course or pathway through Certificate IV level qualification from Health (HLT) or Community Services (CHC) training package
• 18 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course
• NMBA specified level of English language skills
• Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirement All students are required to undergo the LLN test proffered by IHNA for their suitability to be determined for undertaking the course successfully.

Additional requirements:

Digital Literacy

1. Basic computer skills covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use.
2. Having own computer (desktop or laptop) to facilitate the training and assessment. Recommended Laptop requirements: Core i3 Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Operating system; Windows 7 or later version, Screen; 10" or higher, Microsoft Office or Open Office Program, Adobe Reader and Antivirus Program.

1. A satisfactory National Police Clearance (NCC) or Australian Federal Police (AFP) Clearance certificate
2. Required immunisation
3. Working with Children Check (WWCC)
4. A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
5. Students must declare a disability or disorder (if any), or if they are on any medication which may require reasonable adjustments.

• Must be 18 years of age or over
• Completed Year 12 (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5.5 IELTS score & above or equivalent or KCBT placement test.

(Those students who do not meet the minimum English requirement will need to package this program with an English Course before proceeding to this qualification).

• An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification, including an overseas qualification); or
• Five years' relevant work experience; or
• Completion of IMC's Postgraduate Preparation Program; or
• Completion of a three-year post-secondary qualification, with an average pass mark of 70%, in a relevant discipline
• IELTS Academic minimum overall score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 5.5.
