Developed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the Australian Computer Society Professional Year Program (ACS PYP) is delivered at our West Perth Campus, conveniently located in the heart of the CBD. This program combines formal learning and internship to equip international information and communications technology (ICT) graduates, from Australian universities, with the skills and training they need to enhance their career prospects. Our internship is designed to equip you with practical skills and training to enhance your future employment opportunities. Upon successful completion of the Australian Computer Society Professional Year Program, qualifying graduates may be eligible to receive points, as specified by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). Note - The awarding of points is entirely at the discretion of the DHA and successful completion of the ACS PYP does not guarantee the awarding of Permanent Residency points. Stanley College is an approved Australian Computer Society Professional Year Program provider.

Entry requirements

Applicants wishing to enrol into Australian Computer Society PYP must fulfil the following entry requirements:

  • Undertake an individual, documented pre-enrolment interview with Stanley College to ensure program suitability, shared internship expectations, and completion viability;
  • Have completed a Bachelor or higher degree in an IT Major from an Australian tertiary institution and meet the applicable Australian Study Requirement (ASR) prior to commencement. Qualifications must be relevant to the applicants anticipated ANZCO Code;
  • Hold a valid passport and visa that allows full work and study rights whilst undertaking the ACS PYP. Prospective applicants who already hold a valid visa are required to hold a minimum of 12 months' validity (365 days) on their visa from the date of ACS PYP commencement;
  • Hold a current English Language Test result undertaken within the three years immediately prior to the date of ACS PYP commencement and demonstrate the required overall score and all individual component scores in one of the English Language tests detailed below:
    • Cambridge C1 Advanced Test (C1 Advanced): Students must achieve the overall band score of 169 and at least the following minimum component scores - 163 for listening, 163 for reading, 170 for writing, 179 for speaking.
    • IELTS Academic: Students must achieve the overall band score of 6.0 and at least the following minimum component scores - 6 for listening, 6 for reading, 6 for writing, 6 for speaking.
    • IELTS General Training: Students must achieve the overall band score of 6.0 and at least the following minimum component scores - 6 for listening, 6 for reading, 6 for writing, 6 for speaking.
    • OET: Students must achieve a Pass and at least the following minimum component scores - 290 for listening, 310 for reading, 290 for writing, 330 for speaking.
    • PTE Academic: Students must achieve the overall band score of 50 and at least the following minimum component scores - 47 for listening, 48 for reading, 51 for writing, 54 for speaking.
    • TOEFL iBT: Students must achieve the total band score of 64 and at least the following minimum component scores - 16 for listening, 16 for reading, 19 for writing, 19 for speaking.
  • Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): Students undertaking the ACS PYP at Stanley College are required to bring their own device to campus to be able to participate in the classes and complete assessments. The minimum device requirements are as follows:
    • Operating System: Windows 8 Home Edition or later
    • Processor: Intel Core i3 / AMD 2.0 Ghz or better
    • RAM: Minimum 4 GB, recommended 8GB
    • Hard Drive: 128GB SSD (256GB SSD recommended if not using Cloud storage)
    • Display: 13-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) with a built-in webcam
    • WiFi: 802.1x compliant
    • USB Headsets with microphone
    • The device must be fully charged
    • Microsoft Office 2010 or equivalent
    • Adobe Flash player 10 or higher
