Admission criteria

Applicants require an undergraduate degree or higher from a tertiary institution. Satisfying the admission requirements enables an applicant to be considered for admission, but does not guarantee an offer of admission to the program. Admission into program is at the discretion of the course coordinator/School and is dependent on a number of considerations including the applicant's academic background and work experience along with assessment of supplementary information provided by the applicant.

Other requirements and notes for this course

Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards.

Applicants require a Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science), equivalent qualification (e.g. Graduate Diploma in Architecture) or qualification from cognate areas (e.g. Bachelor of Interior Architecture/Interior Design). Entry to the course is competitive and a high semester weighted average is required. Students with a Bachelor's degree from a non-AACA accredited architecture/cognate program are required to submit a folio at the time of application.

You're considered someone with work and life experience if:

You have left secondary education more than two years ago (i.e. who are not classified as recent secondary education applicants) and have not undertaken vocational education training (VET) or higher education study since then.

How we define 'experience'

'Experience' includes a combination of factors sufficient to demonstrate readiness for higher education such as mature-age entry, professional experience whether completion of the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is required or not, community involvement or work experience. Applicants may have undertaken non-formal programs that have helped prepare them for tertiary education or are relevant to the proposed higher education field of study.

This includes study at a public TAFE or other VET provider, whether a qualification was completed or not. Applicants with VET study may have other qualifications such as a Year 10 or Year 12 secondary school certificate.

You're considered someone who has recently left university if:

Applicants with higher education are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, such as a university degree. This may include applicants who are currently studying a higher education course at another education provider and want to transfer to Curtin University, or applicants who are currently studying at Curtin but want to switch to a different course. It may also include applicants who have completed past study with university and non-university higher education providers.

Curtin course switcher criteria

To switch into this course, you need to have:

1. Completed a minimum of 75 credit points
2. A Course Weighted Average (CWA) of 60% or higher
3. An academic status of 'Good Standing'

This can be a physically and mentally challenging course. Please familiarise yourself with the Inherent requirements before applying. Reasonable adjustments can be made for students with disability.

Year one and two may be studied part-time. Students are encouraged to study years three and four full-time.

For mid-year enrolment, there may be restrictions on unit availability and enrolment may be on a part-time basis only, which could extend the course duration. Mid-year enrolment is not available to international students.

Ranking and Selection Process

1. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on published entry requirements and entire academic record.
2. Applicants must provide all required documents and be assessed as eligible to be included in the ranking for an offer.
3. Meeting the minimum entry requirements and course specific prerequisites, does not guarantee selection.
4. In the event the course reaches capacity the University reserves the right not to proceed with subsequent offer rounds.
