In this course you will be introduced to formal studies of the human mind. You'll learn about the scientist-practitioner model of psychology, exploring the scientific mindset and the role of ethics in psychological research and practice. You'll also have the option to study child developmental psychology or health psychology.
This course is your chance to explore the discipline of psychology and to learn about careers in psychology. And because you'll study part-time, and with a choice of online or on-campus study, you'll be able to fit your study around your lifestyle.
After completing this certificate, you'll qualify for entry into our Bachelor of Psychology course. You'll also be eligible for credit for the four units you have completed, which will reduce the overall duration of your psychology degree course.
What you need in order to get into this course. There are different pathway options depending on your level of work and education experience.
Applicants with higher education are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, such as a university degree. This may include applicants who are currently studying a higher education course at another education provider and want to transfer to Curtin University, or applicants who are currently studying at Curtin but want to switch to a different course. It may also include applicants who have completed past study with university and non-university higher education providers.
The Undergraduate Certificate in Psychology will enable entry (and credit for the four units completed) into the B-PSYCH Bachelor of Psychology at Curtin.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. Specific English requirements for this course are outlined in the IELTS table below.
