Overview

In today's digital world, experiences go far beyond screens. From virtual and mixed-reality environments to interactive installations and physical-digital experiences, your creativity can shape how people interact with technology, media and their community.

In this major, you'll gain the skills to create engaging and immersive digital experiences using a variety of software and mediums. You'll learn the fundamentals, theory, and industry best practices for designing interactivity, usability, visual design, emotional design, and user interface principles across different sectors.

You'll also develop skills in designing social and playful interactive experiences. Throughout the course you'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities including digital labs, high-end media production studios with real-time rendering capabilities, advanced VR/AR equipment and high-performing computing systems with cutting-edge graphics.

In your final year, you'll have the opportunity to apply your skills in a practical setting. You could find yourself collaborating with researchers or industry members on real-world challenges or completing internships with local and international studios and production companies, giving you valuable professional experience before you graduate.

This major is part of the Bachelor of Digital Creative Industries. You can broaden your expertise with interdisciplinary electives and specialisations or combine this major with Animation, Visual Effects and Virtual Production or Game Design and Art.

  • demonstrate personal awareness of specific digital creative practices in immersive user experiences and sustain an engagement with contemporary practices and technologies in the creative industries, GC3
  • develop a predictive overview of future trends that will influence one's creative identity and digital creative practices relevant to the community of practice, GC4
