Advances in digital technology have dramatically increased the demand for specialists in digital and social media and online information. A deep understanding of digital and social media is key to success across a range of professions, from media and marketing to policy-making and advocacy.

The graduate certificate presents you with a range of skills and specialisations to choose from, depending on your interests and career goals: you can develop skills in public communication, social network management, collaboration via virtual organisations and web media production.

Alternatively, you can learn about the cultural, political, economic and social changes associated with the internet and social media. You can focus on specialist areas of communications and policy, content management, training and development.

Topics include:

  • Exploring the human dimensions of the internet - how people network, collaborate and share information through internet communications, media and design.
  • Understanding the political, social and cultural contexts of online interactions and developments.
  • Learning how to create, maintain and/or manage online communications for personal and commercial interactions.

When you complete the course, you can apply for entry to the Graduate Diploma of Digital and Social Media and then subsequently enrol in the Master of Digital and Social Media to add to your expertise.
