This major focuses on data protection and computer software security, covering cryptography, policy development, forensics, and intrusion detection. Graduates gain skills in application implementation and understanding individual rights protection.
This major focuses on the key concepts and challenges in data protection and computer software security.
You will examine both the high- and low-level practical aspects of computer security. High-level aspects include cryptography theory, data access policy development and security program management.
Low-level aspects include computer forensics, network intrusion detection and incident handling.
Graduates have the skills to identify and implement appropriate applications for specific scenarios, as well as an understanding of issues related to the protection of individual rights.

The Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a national test for those who don't meet university admission criteria. STAT can be used to meet entry criteria for some courses, or as a way to satisfy Curtin's English proficiency requirements.
STAT is not accepted as an entry pathway, but may be used to demonstrate English language proficiency.
