Fascinated by the human body? Want to know more about human anatomy and physiology? Become a highly skilled scientist at the threshold of many different health careers. If you are seeking a career in allied health, but are not yet ready to commit to a particular profession, this course is an ideal stepping-stone to other courses and careers such as occupational therapy, medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy and the paramedicine major. This course delivers integrated studies in human biology, emphasising applied human structure and function. Your first year is interprofessional and taken with students from other health sciences degrees. The second year is designed to give you in-depth knowledge in selected subject areas, particularly in anatomy and physiology, and is combined with extensive laboratory based learning. In your third year, you can apply your learning to explore areas of current research in human biology and the life sciences. Optometry pathway Our Optometry First Year stream offers a selection of first-year units to enable you to seek admission into the Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science), Master of Optometry double-degree at Flinders University.
