Overview

This specialisation will give you a practical understanding of business technologies, database design, data modelling and visualisation methods used to present information.

The units provide knowledge and skills across a broad range of techniques used in cost analysis and accounting analytics necessary to assess the viability and value of organisations.

You'll gain hands-on knowledge and skills across a broad range of analytical techniques used to assess the strengths and weaknesses of organisations using financial metrics.

Unlike the two accounting majors - Accounting and Accounting Technologies which take a preparer's and verifier's perspective, this specialisation focuses on the organisation and interpretation of data and information.

  • Identify accounting transactions and apply them to complete the accounting cycle ethically, evaluating business sustainability, GC1, GC4, GC6
  • Record and report business transactions using appropriate technologies, selecting and applying accounting treatments as per International Financial Reporting Standards, GC1, GC3, GC4
  • Demonstrate practical hands-on skills in data analytics, interpreting and preparing visualisations of accounting information, GC1, GC2, GC3
  • Analyse technology-based issues impacting accountants, applying problem-solving processes and critical thinking for business data management, GC1, GC3, GC6.
  • Assess global business and costing issues integrating strategy and ethics, constructing financial plans from multiple data sources, GC1, GC4, GC6
