TIWA is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Code: 52395 and CRICOS Provider Code: 00020G for the delivery of courses to international students at Western Australia's five TAFE colleges and at Canning College.

Canning College offers a Diploma of Commerce that provides a guaranteed pathway into Year 2 of a Bachelor Degree at either UWA or Curtin University. Students successfully completing the Diploma of Commerce can also progress into Year 2 of Notre Dame University's Bachelor of Commerce. A comprehensive curriculum, extra tuition time and dedicated staff ensures that you will be extremely well prepared for your university studies.

The original two stream structure will apply:

  • 52751WA Diploma of Commerce UWA Stream which articulates into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Western Australia
  • 52750WA Diploma of Commerce Curtin Stream which articulates into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Commerce at Curtin University

Prerequisite:
Completion of Year 12, Certificate IV in University Access Program or equivalent.

What you will learn

  • The Diploma course has a ‘core and electives’ structure and is of one year’s duration. It is focused on business commerce studies.
  • Eight modules need to be successfully completed to be awarded the Diploma.
  • Modules are studied over two semesters, with two intakes yearly in February and July.
  • The course will be conducted over two semesters (720 hours - 20 hours per week for each semester) each of approximately 18 weeks duration. Each semester will consist of 13 teaching weeks, 3 tuition free study weeks and 2 week examination period making up the 18 weeks. This may be varied from year to year.
  • The course is delivered using a variety of teaching methods including lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Canning College recognises prior learning by acknowledging competencies and outcomes achieved (skills, knowledge and attributes) held as a result of formal training and education (both within Australia and overseas), work experience and/or life experience. Students who have successfully completed similar units of study at another institution may be given credit/exemption for a module in the Diploma course.
