Overview

ACAP's professionally accredited Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge to forge a successful career in the accounting profession. Students will develop their professional skills across a range of core areas including but not limited to management accounting, financial reporting, economics, data analysis and company law. Students will apply their critical and innovative thinking to solve real-world problems ethically and with a keen awareness of corporate governance and social responsibility. Students will undertake 12 units aligned to the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and CPA Australia (CPA) competency areas and complete 4 units of an elective stream in either small to medium business management (SMB) or business management and administration (BMA). The MPA program fulfils the requirements of the major professional bodies CPA and the CAANZ. An accredited MPA from ACAP is recognition that your course meets the highest professional standards in accounting. In addition, a work integrated learning unit forms the culmination of learning in this course, and students will have an opportunity to further their knowledge in a hands-on environment through a work placement or an industry-focused project.

Domestic entry requirements

Domestic students must meet the following criteria:

  • An Australian bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification; or
  • A substantial portfolio of work evidencing at least 3 years relevant industry experience.

International entry requirements

  • International students must meet the following criteria:
  • An Australian bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification.

Entry pathways Students that successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting offered by ACAP University College may articulate directly into ACAP's Master of Professional Accounting or the Graduate Diploma of Professional Accounting.

Minimum English Language Requirements International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0 (completed in the past two years); or an equivalent accepted English Language test as specified in ACAP's English Language Test equivalency tables.

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by ACAP as equivalent to Australian qualifications.
