Gender Equality at REA Group
Shifting the dial on gender diversity in tech has been a priority for us for many years. We believe diverse teams are the best teams.
Gender Diversity at REA
- Increasing gender equity and improving gender diversity in our workforce remains a key pillar of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy. We know that this allows us to tap into a much broader range of leadership styles, experiences, market insights and skills to manage our business, delight our customers and achieve our commitments.
- In FY21 Gender Diversity across our business remained relatively stable year on year with approximately 30 of the 74 Australia based senior leaders identifying as women (40.5%). The remaining 44 identify as men (59.5%). Across our Australia based business gender representation sits at 52.1% men and 47.9% women.
- A total of 15 female employees and 21 male employees makes up REA Group’s broader Leadership Group in our Asia teams (41.7% women and 58.3% men).
- Our Executive Leadership Team is made up of 4 men (44%) and 5 women (66%)
Women in Technology – a targeted approach
Our ‘Women in Tech’ program in Australia offers opportunities to women in the technology industry and has continued to move from strength to strength since its inception in 2018. The program has three initiatives that continue today – Springboard into Tech, Accelerated Leadership and our REA Mentoring program.
These programs involve:
- The Springboard to tech program is designed for women that are changing careers or returning to technology roles after a career break. Many women entering the program have previous professional experience and we have therefore developed a flexible program with a maximum length of 18 months.
- Our Accelerated Leadership Program was established to help improve the representation of women in the senior roles in technology at REA by investing in the development of mid-tier women identified as potential future leaders. The program is designed to enhance the leadership skills and commercial acumen of women and those who identify as non-binary working in male-dominated industries. It is a bespoke program designed for REA.
- Our Mentoring Program was initially piloted with women in technology and later extended to everyone in tech, product, and design communities (where traditionally female representation is low). The program was designed to connect women in technology with those across REA as well as share learnings, provide support and fuel with a culture of learning and knowledge sharing across REA.
