Entry Requirements
FOR ENTRY INTO FIRST YEAR
Completed Year 12 or equivalent. The minimum age is 18 years old.
You must also have achieved ONE of the following:
VCE or equivalent with a score of no less than 30 in EAL or other English course; OR
Successful completion of a Diploma (minimum 1 year) or an Advanced Diploma course taught in English in Australia AND have passed an AE internal English test; OR
Successful completion of 1 year of a Bachelor degree or higher taught in Australia AND have passed an AE internal English test; OR
Official Academic IELTS test scores with an overall score of 7.0 and a minimum of 7.0 in each band or equivalent. It is possible to combine the results of two tests from the same provider to achieve the requirement, as long as the tests are within 6 months. For example, you could use scores from two IELTS tests to meet the requirement for English proficiency across the four IELTS components.
Please note: You are not required to sit an AE internal English test, if you have completed a full Bachelor or more than 1 year of a Higher Education course.

Counselling has developed substantially over the past decade. It is increasingly being recognised for its efficacy in practice, and its more practical education and therapeutic approach.
Entry Requirements
You can apply for entry to the Master of Counselling course if you have successfully completed an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree in any field.
English Requirements
You must meet one of the following:
IELTS: achievement of an Overall Band Score of 6.5 in the Academic IELTS with a minimum of 6.0 in each sub-band (International English Language Testing System),
TOEFL (iBT): Overall score 82 or better with a minimum of 20 in the writing band,
PTE Academic: Overall score of 58 with a minimum score of 50 in each sub-skill,
Cambridge English Scale score: 176. No less than 169 in any paper,
At least one year of University studies in Australia in the last two years,
Evidence of at least 5 years of studies in an English speaking country (Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada, USA, South Africa or Ireland), or
Australian Year 12 Certificate or qualification at Certificate IV or higher level completed in the last two years.
This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.

Domestic Australian Students
For direct entry into Diploma level courses, students must have completed a minimum of Year 12 schooling or equivalent or to be a mature age student (20 years of age and above) with relevant work experience.
Students who have not completed Year 12 are permitted to study a certificate-level course at APSI prior to the diploma.
Students need to demonstrate they have proficiency in English. If students cannot provide documented proof of their English language proficiency, they will be required to sit for a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test before a place can be offered.
International Students
Australian Professional Skills Institute is CRICOS registered (CRICOS Provider Code 03255G). All students must be over 18 years of age before they can commence this course at APSI.

All applicants are required to hold a Master by Coursework in a related field. Alternatively applicants can hold an Honours degree, or the equivalent in a relevant field from a recognised University, Applicants seeking online study will be required to provide additional information to support their application, as not all projects nor disciplines are suited to online study.
Academic admission requirements (Band 10) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Masters Degree (Research);
Masters Degree (Coursework) in a related discipline area;
Masters Degree (Coursework) with 2/3 research component; or
Bachelor Honours Degree.
English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
English Language Requirements for Nursing and Midwifery: International students (other than those students schooled in a recognised country as defined by APHRA at http://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Standards/English-language-skills.aspx) are required to provide any English language test approved by AHPRA with a score equivalent to an IELTS Academic overall minimum score of 7.0 (no individual band less than 7.0). Internationally schooled applicants may also be required to meet this requirement or we may require additional information to confirm that requirements have been satisfied.
This course is designed for professionals who wish to acquire counselling skills for use in their work as health professionals, social workers, personnel officers, pastors, human service workers, psychologists or counsellors.

Instructions for Prospective Students: ATCWA will not offer and deliver this qualification after the Term 3 - July 2023. Candidates who wish to obtain this qualification, must enrol in the new qualification which is CHC52021Diploma of Community Services.
