About this course

This course is appropriate for you if want to provide an advanced level of assistance to dental practitioners and other dental professionals. The course will advance the level of your knowledge and skills needed in assisting dentists, dental hygienists or dental therapists during all health care procedures, maintaining high standards of infection control and assisting with practice administration. As a student in this course, you will undertake a minimum of 250 hours of clinical placement, linked with a number of units of competency in the Certificate IV program. You would undertake the practical components of the course by working alongside qualified professionals, fully supervised by WAIFS trainers and designated supervisors at the host employer.

This course will be delivered and assessed via classroom delivery, simulated environments, presentations, knowledge questions, and written assessments.

Compulsory work-based training (WBT) forms part of this course. Students of this course should be physically able to undertake the requirements of WBT. As a minimum a student should be able to stand, move around and lift objects which may be heavy following work, health and safety practices.
