Do you want to work with elite athletes or the general public in the health and fitness sector? Our Sport Science major will prepare you thoroughly for a successful career in the sport and recreation industries. You'll gain the knowledge, skills and understanding needed in areas such as sport management and delivery, and in service delivery which is essential for athlete preparation and specialised fitness industries. The award-winning sport science practicum provides you with valuable workplace experience enabling you to integrate theoretical concepts with professional practice and interact with other professionals. Placements are available in WA (at no cost) and overseas (at the student's expense).

Sports Science graduates will have the choice of three distinct career paths. You could enter the broad sports promotion, management and marketing sector. Or you might prefer a career in athlete preparation as an Exercise Scientist. The third pathway will see you move into graduate training in sport, recreation management, coaching, exercise rehabilitation, occupational safety and health or research.

Course structure

Sport Science is not an accredited major. Students who are interested in applying to be an accredited exercise scientist, should apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Sciences - Major in MJD-SEHDM Sport Science Exercise and Health . Students who transfer after completing more than 48 points of core units in Sport Science may take extra time to complete their studies.

Students who have completed Sport Science major and require additional units to meet the eligibility criteria for ESSA accreditation, may apply to enrol in the Bachelor of Science and Technology.
