About this course

How does biological and cultural variation occur, what forces shape this variation between and within populations, and how can we use this information about evolutionary history to help us address contemporary problems? These critical concepts are explored in this extended major via a sequence of units that examine the biology of 'being human' in today's world, with an emphasis on how the biology and behaviour of humans are influenced by genetic, developmental, ecological and cultural factors. This extended major will enhance skills needed for the future such as analytical thinking and innovation, critical thinking, complex problem-solving and programming. You will also develop other transferable skills for effective communication and engagement with community, government and industry groups involved in social and public health policies.
