About this course

What makes this combined course at UWA different is our location along the expansive Western Australian coastline. We have access to pristine rocky reefs and beaches along the South Coast to the coral reefs of the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. This diversity creates an excellent living laboratory for studying marine science and oceanography. In the Bachelor of Marine Science you'll have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning with real-world data sets through fieldwork and laboratory work. In the Master of Oceanography you'll have the opportunity to develop expert knowledge and practical experience that'll enable you to tackle pressing challenges facing our oceans and coastal areas, such as coastal response to climate change and sea-level rise, ocean acidification, and marine heatwaves - just to name a few! If you decide not to continue in the CBM you can exit after three years with a Bachelor of Marine Science (Advanced). Note that the Advanced Bachelor Degree is available only as a CBM exit award. It is not offered for direct enrolment and is not awarded on completion of the CBM.
