About this course

During your first two and a half years you will complete a double major in Neuroscience and a combination of Anatomy and Physiology (Human Sciences). The benefits of this combination are that you will gain both depth and breadth of knowledge about the human brain and behaviour where you will: increase your knowledge of the cellular and molecular basis of how the human body works through selected Anatomy and Physiology units expand your understanding of human behaviour through units that incorporate anthropology as well as primate ecology and social behaviour. These topics provide an excellent counterfoil to the strongly cellular and molecular content of Neuroscience and Physiology on their own. They also develop and extend the concepts learnt through Psychology in the first year. The units at Master's level offer in depth focus on applying Neuroscience in the context of human health. The unit sequence integrates genetics and public health, which are highly relevant to understanding the impact and management of the genetic and environmental risk factors of the devastating neurological conditions that disproportionately contribute to the health challenges in our ageing population. The final year provides outstanding practical experiences through case studies and direct interactions with patients with neurological conditions, introduction to advanced scientific research technologies, as well as the opportunity to apply neuroscience principles to sport science and exercise physiology.
