Description
This course is aims to provide participants with an overview of the differences between paediatric and adult patients, assessment using the ABCDE approach and other considerations including non-accidental injury. The management of paediatric conditions including asthma, croup, bronchiolitis, sepsis, anaphylaxis, and seizures will be discussed utilising recommendations from Royal Childrens Hospital guidelines, APLS guidelines and other contemporary sources. Medication and fluid dosing and safe administration will also be discussed.
The course consists of an eight-hour, online workshop with an optional two-hour, self-directed online activity package to cover concepts unable to be accommodated by the workshop schedule. Pre-course activity access and online meeting details will be emailed to participants approximately two weeks prior to the course date. Pre-course activity access will be deactivated the day following the course.
This course is suitable for any health professionals (including students) who would like to know more about paediatric patient assessment and management. There are no prerequisites or previous experience required to attend.
