This course aims to prepare internationally qualified nurses for the Outcomes Based Assessment: the NCLEX multiple choice examination and the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). Participants will develop skills and knowledge in critical thinking to practice safely in a complex health environment. The course focuses on person-centred, contemporary, evidence-based, nursing practice in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board Registered Nurse Standard for Practice (2016). Participants will develop their knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology and relate this to the management of people experiencing illness or disability.
The course consists of 20 days of online NCLEX preparation over four weeks. NCLEX preparation is self-directed with a one-hour online meeting per day with one of the course coordinators to workshop principles covered within the self-directed learning. The NCLEX online preparation is followed by 10 days of face-to-face, clinical skill development and practice in the simulation setting over a two-week period.
This course is suitable for internationally qualified Registered Nurses wanting to undertake the outcomes-based assessment to gain qualification as a Registered Nurse in Australia.
Note: This course does not guarantee NCLEX or OSCE results or successful Ahpra registration.
