At The University of Notre Dame Australia, School of Medicine, we are dedicated to the provision of education that is designed and presented in collaboration with the health sector to support the translation of learning into practice.
The Graduate Certificate in Health Leadership provides a unique opportunity to study, network and learn from experts across the professions. The WA Health, Institute for Health Leadership (2019), leadership model focuses on 'Courageous, values-aligned, collaborative and systems-focused' leaders, which will form the foundations of this program.
The Graduate Diploma of Health Leadership further develops students understanding of key leadership principals in areas of interest to them.
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Health Leadership applicants must meet the following specific requirements:
The Graduate Certificate in Health Leadership (GCHL) supports health professionals who want to consolidate or further their leadership career. The program provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the core principles of management and leadership within the complex health arena, in which consumers and their significant others play a central role. Students complete four core courses to support their development as a health professional leader and undertake peer coaching and a significant workplace project to demonstrate application of learning.
The Graduate Diploma of Health Leadership (GDHL) The Graduate Diploma of Health Leadership comprises a comprehensive overview of the core principles of management and leadership within the complex health arena, in which consumers and their significant others play a central role. Students complete foundational courses focused on leadership theory, systems-focused thinking, compulsory courses ethics for professional life and research methods, with a further two self-selected specialist courses.
A Graduate Diploma in Health Leadership can lead to careers as a business administration manager, corporate services manager, health services manager, general manager, health promotion officer, health researcher, medical administrator, and policy and planning manager.
The Graduate Certificate will be provided through Master Classes to engage both academic and health industry speakers to provide an engaging, thought provoking and safe space to explore the complexities of health and health leadership. Master classes provide a space for the sharing of ideas, exploring solutions, networking, and building communities of interest.
This first year will then translate into an online learning experience in the Graduate Diploma year through the Notre Dame core courses Ethics in Professional Life and Research Methods in Health and electives to engage students in areas of interest to them.
