Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education graduates will be able to:

  1. Critically apply and reflect on advanced knowledge and understandings of specialised educational and theological theory and practices within the domain of religious education
  2. Critically evaluate issues in RE curriculum, leadership and pedagogy, pastoral care, spirituality, and values development underlying the understanding of significant recent developments in Catholic education
  3. Use cognitive, technical, and creative skills with initiative and a high level of personal autonomy and accountability to generate understanding of complex issues in religious education; and
  4. Use communication and technical skills to implement, justify and interpret critical issues in religious education, pastoral care, spirituality, and values education presented within Catholic educational contexts.

Two (2) compulsory courses:

  • One (1) Religious Education course
  • One (1) Theology course

Two (2) other courses(Any combination of the following can be used):

  • Two (2) courses in Religious Education or
  • Two (2) courses in Theology or
  • One (1) course in Religious Education and One (1) course in Theology

You may commence your studies during Winter Term (June), in Semester 2 (July) or October Intensive, subject to course availability.
