The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing is designed for newly qualified nurses to enhance their clinical knowledge and decision-making skills through a mix of practical and online study. It is a partnership program available to registered nurses employed in a clinical setting, offering pathways to further studies such as a Graduate Diploma or Master of Nursing.
Are you a graduate registered nurse who wants to hone your clinical knowledge and improve your decision-making skills? The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing at The University of Notre Dame Australia is designed for the newly qualified nurse in their first year of practice and can be completed in one year of part-time study. You undertake a mixture of practical and online study while employed in a clinical setting. Upon graduation, you can also choose to continue your studies with a Graduate Diploma or Master of Nursing. To apply, you will need to be a current employee at a health institution.
Why study this degree?If you are a practising Registered nurse with a desire to improve your clinical knowledge this program is for you. This partnership program is a unique collaboration between The University of Notre Dame Australia and several leading health providers.
The program is only available to students who have a nursing degree and are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and have a graduate employee contract with the partnering health providers. Upon completion, you will have the skills and knowledge to apply your expertise in the clinical area.
You will complete units in advanced health assessment, clinical nursing practice and nursing governance. As part of the program, you undertake a series of clinical rotations and written projects.
Upon graduation, you can embark on a further year of study leading to a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Nursing and, later, a Master of Nursing.
Interviews for the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing will be at the discretion of the health service and conducted on site. Please be aware that the standard course costs do not apply for this program. Course costs are reduced due to the unique nature of this hospital-based, university-supported learning program.

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing will allow qualified nurses to become clinical leaders in their chosen fields. Careers include nurse educators, nurse managers, nurse practitioners, nurse researchers or research managers.
