The University of Notre Dame Australia's CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support provides you with the skills and knowledge required to support children's development and learning within a curriculum framework, manage behaviour, work effectively with children with special needs, identify children at risk, and follow legal and ethical frameworks, including child protection and policies.

This program is delivered face to face on Notre Dame's Fremantle and Broome Campuses and at school and community locations throughout the Kimberley and is part-time over 12 months. You will be required to complete 17 units of competency, 13 core units and 4 electives, to be awarded a CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support qualification.

This program is suitable for school leavers or other interested persons wanting to gain employment in the education sector and current employees in the education sector wishing to qualify.

Career pathways

Graduates of this certificate program will be able to work as education assistants in Government, Independent and Catholic schools providing support to a classroom teacher for children from kindergarten to Year 12.

Credit for prior study or work

Notre Dame RTO recognises the Australian Qualifications Framework and Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and VET statements of attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation. Credit and recognition of prior learning will be awarded for all units of competencies that directly align with units from the qualification the student has enrolled. Evidence of competences achieved must be supplied for recognition to be processed (i.e., presentation of original certificate or transcript or USI transcript). Applications for recognition and credit should be made before commencing any such unit.
