With many corporations realising that their employees are their most valuable asset, the area of human resource management has never been more critical. As companies and organisations struggle to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, businesses are increasingly turning to qualified human resource managers for help and advice. The Bachelor of Arts with a Second Major in Human Resource Management will equip you with the skills to operate effectively in various working environments - from private companies to government departments and not-for-profit bodies.
Academic requirements for this program are outlined below. In addition, to be eligible for admission, all applicants need to satisfy the Minimum University Admission Requirements outlined. These include those relating to minimum age and English Language Proficiency. We also consider your application more broadly - your non-academic achievements (such as any previous leadership roles, volunteering, work, church and/or community involvement) as well as personal qualities - your aspirations and interests and your capacity to complete your chosen program. Applicants who left secondary education more than two years previously and who have not undertaken VET or higher education study since may be considered for direct entry. This includes applicants who have completed Steiner, Montessori or home school curriculums. To qualify, applicants must be 20 years of age as at 1 March in the year of intake and meet one or more of the following:

Our graduates are trained to effectively manage people so your organisation's targets can be met - whether you are working for a private company, government department or not-for-profit body.
This degree, which is usually taken as a Second Major as part of a Bachelor of Arts, covers the core principles of workplace management, employment relations and strategic planning - all vital for effective human resource management. Throughout your studies, you will also explore topics through courses such as Change Management, Employment Law, the Principles of Management and the Psychology of Work.
Human resource professionals are in high demand across many business sectors as companies and organisations grapple with rapid sociological, economic and technological change. Our graduates have gained employment in various roles, such as workplace management and recruitment.
Graduates of this program can follow diverse career paths in the private and public sectors; many employers will welcome the transferable skills. The following careers are open to graduates of this program: human resource departments, workplace management, and recruitment in government and non-government settings.

*The Human Resource Management Major may only be undertaken as a second Major (i.e. an Arts Major must be selected as the first Major).
