Are you a Health Professional looking to refresh and develop your skills?
Description
The Advanced Life Support Level 1 (ALS1) course is ideal for those healthcare professionals (including student healthcare professionals) who are less frequently involved in the initial response to a deteriorating patient or to a patient in cardiac arrest. It is a one-day multi-professional course aimed at providing the candidate with the skills and knowledge to manage the patient in the immediate period of crisis. This includes skills in dealing with deteriorating patients using a standardised approach, cardiac arrest, and other medical emergencies in a clinical setting. The ALS courses are standardised, national courses accredited by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC), teaching evidence-based resuscitation guidelines and skills to healthcare professionals. As all co-badged courses in Australia are regulated by the ARC, the ALS course credentials are cross-recognised by the Resuscitation Council (UK), New Zealand Resuscitation Council (NZRC) and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). ARC courses provide the opportunity for inter-professional education to promote the knowledge, skills, attributes and attitudes in order to work together in an effective collaborative fashion. Certification for the advanced life support courses is valid for up to four years.
Candidates are posted a hard copy manual at least two weeks prior to the course to commence preparation for the eight-hour face-to-face component. Pre-course preparation time varies and is dependent on prior knowledge and experience and personal learning attributes.
This course is suitable for all health professionals with limited or infrequent exposure to life-threatening crisis events needing advanced life support training (nurses, midwives, doctors, paramedics, worksite medics, health professional students)
