In order to be eligible for the AMSA Watchkeeper Deck Certificate of Competency, you should have 18-36 months qualifying sea services on appropriate ships as a Deck Cadet or equivalent in an approved program. This is required to be assessed by AMSA. Below are requirements for entry into this course. You must have the following to be considered: Based on any certificates or qualifications that you may already hold, you be required to undertake additional short course qualifications as specified by AMSA. Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (Academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 6.0 or equivalent.

  • Equivalent to Australian Year 12.

  • Plus a letter of sea service assessment from Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA)
