The specialisation focus area for this course is in front end web development, which refers to the client side development. Front end developers are responsible for the look and feel of a website.

During this course, you will gain skills and knowledge to carry out tasks in specialised fields, including building dynamic websites, building complex web page layouts and building a document using extensible markup language.

You will develop skills to become industry ready, from project conception, liaising with clients, database design, cloud application development, information architecture, big data, machine learning and web application development. In addition you will learn how to utilise project management techniques and develop advanced soft skills such as communication with clients through team work to produce the end product aligned with business needs.

On completion of your qualification in website development, you can be confident you have the skills for success in a career in front end programming.

Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Students enrolled at Central Regional TAFE must complete ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology (BFF9) for entry into this course.

  • Students enrolled at North Metropolitan TAFE must complete ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology [Web Development] (AC25) for entry into this course.

    To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 20 units. These 20 are comprised of 6 core units and 14 elective units. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.

    Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers.
