The specialisation focus area for this course is back end web development, which refers to the server side of an application. It contains behind-the-scene activities that occur when performing any action on a website.
During this course, you will gain skills and knowledge to carry out tasks in specialised fields, including developing website information architecture, implementing quality assurance processes for websites and developing representational state transfer application programming interfaces (REST APIs). You will develop skills to become industry ready from project conception, liaising with clients, database design, cloud application development, information architecture, big data, machine learning and web application development. In addition, you will learn how to utilise project management techniques and develop advanced soft skills such as communication with clients through team work to produce the end product aligned with business needs.

An IELTS score (academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.
Students enrolled at North Metropolitan TAFE must complete ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology [Web Development] (AC25) for entry into this course.

To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 20 units. These 20 are comprised of 6 core units and 14 elective units. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.
Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers.
