Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) form an integral part of any commercial building construction and have a major impact on the built environment, human comfort and energy use.  If you have an interest in this industry then the Diploma of Engineering – Technical (HVAC) is a great course to start your career in this expanding industry. During your studies, you will develop a number of skills including the ability to design and implement HVAC systems using thermodynamics principles, an understanding of psychometric processes and the principles of energy management.  You will have opportunities to use building information modelling software, produce engineering drawings and understand the requirements of workplace health and safety.  When you complete your studies you will have all the basic fundamentals and confidence to work with a number of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems used across a number of industries. The HVAC facilities at South Metropolitan TAFE, are considered to be Western Australia’s premier centre for heating, ventilation and air conditioning studies. The purpose-built facility is among the best in the southern hemisphere.  When considering this course, please be aware that this is engineering based, and will not result in a trade qualification being issued. Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Completion of the equivalent to Australian Year 12 with a demonstrated proficiency in Maths at Year 11 level.
