Do you want to build a career from the ground up? When you complete CPC30111 Certificate III in Bricklaying / Blocklaying you will have all the skills to become a Bricklayer or Blocklayer. This practical, hands-on course will teach you how to use tools and equipment to lay bricks for domestic, commercial and public building projects. It covers techniques such as basic levelling procedures, basic demolition, measurements and calculations, erecting and dismantling restricted scaffolding and setting out a project. You will also learn how to create arches and columns, build feature and curved walls and construct steps and ornamental panels. You will also develop the knowledge to interpret plans and an understanding of occupational health and safety requirements for the construction industry. This course is ideal if you love working outdoors, have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to complete work to a high standard. This course has a compulsory work placement which needs to be undertaken before you can successfully finish this course. Prior to this placement, you will be required to complete the Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) unit of competency as this specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work.
