About this course

With this qualification, turn your passion for fishing into a career in the fishing sector of the seafood industry. Learn a broad range of routine processes and procedures which include maintaining fishing gear, operating small vessels, using deck equipment, processing and basic marine science skills.

During this course you will gain the knowledge and skills in assisting with the operation of fishing gear and equipment, basic processing and temperature control of harvest, general cleaning and maintenance of equipment and vessel, and handling, harvesting and sorting by catch.

If you want to continue your studies, you can enrol in the SFI30219 Certificate III in Fishing Operations.

Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 10.

    To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 12 units. These 12 are comprised of 5 core units and 7 elective units. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.

    Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers.
