About this course

Take your electrical engineering career to the next level with this qualification. This two-year course will fulfil your interest in electrical systems and infrastructure and will give you the skills to enter this exciting industry. This course covers a range of capabilities such as electronic design, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, motor control, sustainable practices, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and low voltage installations. You will also learn how to diagnose faults and malfunctions in electrical systems and have the knowledge to provide solutions to these problems. Part of this course includes planning and writing specifications and developing your skills in order to manage large electrical projects including associated risks that can arise. When you finish this course, you will have the ability to work in this industry and be responsible for electrical and control support including administering and upgrading infrastructure. A unique prototype facility on campus has been developed, which is based on an international model to support training in both emerging and current technologies and advanced automated manufacturing. This facility allows the delivery of this course to be simulated towards a manufacturing and production outcome, improving levels of productivity in design and manufacture. The on campus computer-aided design (CAD) laboratories also reflect the technology and configuration found in an industrial setting. Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Equivalent to Australian Year 12 with a pass in Year 11 Maths is required for entry into this course.

  • OR Completion of MEM30505 Certificate III in Engineering - Technical is required for entry into this course.
