Diploma
Each unit of the diploma has been designed to give you insight into the types of activities that an accountant would be required to fulfil within the workplace.
You will be exposed to a careful integration of theory, knowledge and skills to ensure that you will gain the necessary experience and exposure to accounting practice to ensure a smooth transition into the workplace. Extensive hands-on experience in the use of Mind Your Own Business (MYOB) software, Perdisco online practise set and preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) are an integral part of the course.
You will also have the necessary academic foundations to continue to a relevant undergraduate higher education program at a university or private provider of higher education.
While there are numerous diplomas and bachelor of accounting degrees within the industry, Stott's Diploma of Practical Accounting course is unique as it integrates all eight units within a practical accounting laboratory designed to simulate the work of accountants in the workplace.
Completed Year 12 or equivalent. The minimum age is 18 years old.
International students must also demonstrate that they have English language ability equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (Academic).
Competency to IELTS 6.0 means that the student has documentary evidence of having completed an IELTS exam at an official IELTS testing centre or an equivalent recognised English language test, within the previous twelve months of the student's proposed start date for the Bachelor programs and that the student was given an overall score of 6 with no single band lower than 5.5 (see policy - International Student Admission - Higher Education).

Diploma of accounting graduates have a history of being employed as accountants within public practice as taxation accountants, trainee accountants and auditors and bookkeepers. They also play important roles in the corporate sector as payroll, receivable and payable clerks.
Moreover, graduates of the Diploma of Practical Accounting will not be confined to careers only within the accounting industry, and may take on compliance, IT, management and marketing roles as many other sectors and industries recognise the importance accounting skills and knowledge.
Professional RecognitionThe Diploma of Practical Accounting course covers Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved units in Practical Preparation of Financial Statements, Preparation of Tax Documentation and Accounting Information Systems, completion of the course would meet the studies required on top of the other requirements to be eligible for Registration as BAS Agents.

AIS101 Business Information Systems for Accountants is a pre-requisite for AIS102 Accounting Information Systems and PTD102 Preparation of Tax Documentation.
