With a Diploma of Community Services, you can graduate with the knowledge and skills to be a valued professional worker in the community service industry. Upon completion of the course, you will have gained the theoretical and ethical foundation required to prepare you for a meaningful and stimulating career. This may include working in areas such as child and family services, domestic violence, employment support, community development, and migrant services, among others.

Entry requirements

  • Completion of Year 12 studies or equivalent
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

You will also need to obtain evidence of a Police Check to ensure participation in fieldwork placement.

Training Levels and Requirements Level 1:

Usually has a skill level equal to the completion of Year 10, a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, Certificate I or II. Australian Apprenticeships may be offered at this level.

Level 2:

Usually has a skill level equal to a Certificate III or IV, or at least three years relevant experience. Australian Apprenticeships may be offered at this level.

Level 3:

Usually requires a level of skill equal to a Diploma or Advanced Diploma. Study is often undertaken through TAFEs or Registered Training Organisations. Some universities offer studies at this level.

Level 4:

Usually requires a level of skill equal to a Bachelor Degree or higher qualification. Study is often undertaken at a university.

Course structure

To receive this qualification, you must complete 16 units: 8 core and 8 electives. The course is conducted in 8 terms, each comprising 10 weeks, exclusive of holidays. You will attend college 20 hours per week.

The Diploma of Community Services at Stott's College requires 400 hours of supervised Fieldwork Placement.
