Sheridan Institute of Higher Education’s Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) program provides a three-year undergraduate program for students interested in pursuing creative writing either as a profession or a pastime.
The BA (Creative Writing) comprises two (2) core Creative Writing units and six (6) elective units specific to the Creative Writing discipline, three (3) research-oriented units, three (3) core Christian studies units, and the choice of a wide range of electives from other academic disciplines.
The unit will also suit students considering a career as a secondary English teacher, or serve as a pathway towards postgraduate study in creative writing.
Entry to Undergraduate Awards (Domestic Students):
Applicants for the Diploma of Science also require scaled marks of at least 50 in one ATAR Mathematics and one ATAR Science subject.
Entry to Undergraduate Awards (International Students):
Applicants for the Diploma of Science also require scaled marks of at least 50 in one comparable High School Maths and one High School Science course.
Creative Writing graduates acquire a knowledge and skill set that can lead to a diverse range of writing-related careers, including:
A minimum of 23 units must be taken to complete the Sheridan College Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing). Each unit is worth 3 credit points, with the exception of the Research Project (6 credit points) for a total of 72 credit points.

Creative Writing Electives (choose 6 units)
Core Research Subjects (3 units)
Common Core Subjects (3 units)
General Electives (choose 9 units)
Creative Writing may also be taken as a double-major in combination with another specialisation.

Students who attain selected diploma and/or advanced diploma awards at these institutions are guaranteed credit towards Bachelor degrees at Sheridan College. Contact your provider or the Sheridan College office for information relating to the credit schedule.
If your RTO provider is not on this list, you may still be eligible for credit at Sheridan College. Click here to read the Sheridan College Credit Transfer and Prior Learning Policy and contact the College discuss your qualifications.
Sheridan College welcomes approaches from RTOs wishing to establish formal pathway agreements into Sheridan College's higher education degree programs.
Prospective students should first download, complete and return the Application Form (for Domestic Students) or International Student Application Form and the Genuine Student Evaluation Form (for International Students).
Sheridan College will review your application. If your application meets the relevant requirements for the course you have selected, the College will invite you to an interview with the Executive Principal.
If the College is satisfied that you have demonstrated the capacity to succeed in higher education, the College will send you an official offer.
Once you have signed the official offer of acceptance and paid the initial fees, Sheridan College will send an official acceptance letter.

Application Deadline
The application deadline is one calendar week prior to Orientation in Trimester 1 and Trimester 3. Orientation dates are published on the Sheridan College Academic Calendar.
