The Optical Fibre Cabling Endorsement equips learners with the skills and knowledge to install, terminate, and test optical fibre cable systems in domestic, commercial, and industrial environments. This includes both backbone and customer cabling.
This course is ideal for registered cablers seeking to upgrade their capabilities and meet industry requirements for working with fibre optic systems.
To enrol in this course, you must:
Hold a current Open Cabling Registration
Possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Be physically capable of performing cabling and installation tasks
This course is designed for experienced cablers or those who have recently completed the Open Cabler Registration Skill Set.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
Install and maintain optical fibre cable systems
Perform terminations and splicing of optical fibre
Conduct compliance testing and fault-finding
Work within safety, legislative, and regulatory frameworks applicable to the cabling industry
This course meets the requirements of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for the Optical Fibre Cabling Endorsement.
This course includes the following nationally recognised units:
ICTCBL322 - Install, test and terminate optical fibre cable on customer premises
ICTTEN318 - Estimate and quote for customer telecommunications equipment installation
These units form part of the ICT Information and Communications Technology Training Package and are essential for gaining endorsement.
