Learn the Tools of the Trade

The Diploma of Justice (22594VIC) will train you for work within the justice industry. This includes justice careers in the state or federal police forces, customs service, sheriff's department, local government, correctional services, courts, youth justice, community corrections and various non-government organisations. Students that graduate with a Diploma of Justice (22594VIC) will be equipped to join a range of entry-level careers or move into further qualifications such as the Advance Diploma of Justice or a Bachelor's degree.

Our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and online learning. This flexibility allows our students to continue to study in a safe, guided and supported manner.

This course offers the following intakes:

Broadmeadows Campus - Full Time option - 2 days per week - Course Length: 1 year

Essendon Campus - Full time option - 2 days per week - Course Length: 1 year

Online classes - Part Time option - 1 evening per week - Course Length: 1.5 years

Can I Apply?

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is highly recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience.

You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

Please note:

Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy and numeracy competencies to Level 4 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Students are required to work independently and use support from a range of unfamiliar and/or unpredictable resources; read complex text with specialised vocabulary; embed information in a justice context; and conduct complex analysis, which includes extracting, extrapolating and reflecting on information and some abstract themes.

Students will be required to be able to use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication platforms and internet search engines

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use an online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.

As part of the enrolment process we recommend you attend an information session, you will be required to complete Literacy, Language and Numeracy online assessment and pre-training review interview.

Along with direct applications, the Diploma of Justice (22594VIC) is also offered through VTAC; therefore full-time VTAC applicants must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries.

How Will I Be Selected?

As part of the enrolment process a staff member will be in contact with you to provide you with information about the course.

You will be required to complete Literacy, Language and Numeracy online assessment, suitability task, and pre training review interview.

Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oral and numeracy competencies to Level 4 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Year 12 students will be selected using their ATAR scores, if applying through VTAC.

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and online learning, we recommend for all students undertaking the course to have a suitable and stable internet connection, access to a portable device i.e. laptop.
