About this course

Learn the Tools of the Trade

This course will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills on which to build a successful career in the horticulture, landscape or parks and gardens sector. Training focuses on practical skills required including: landscape construction methods, plant selection, soils and nutrition, as well as safety with chemicals.

This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in amenity horticulture. It is designed for those wanting to work in the Horticulture industry (school leavers and mature-age career-changes) and those working in industry who want a qualification.

At Kangan Institute we provide students with the opportunity to experience a simulated work place in our own horticulture learning facility. Our teachers have a broad range of industry skills and knowledge that they bring to the classroom environment ensuring that students have relevant and current understanding of industry practices.

Our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning. This flexibility allows our students to continue to study in a safe, guided and supported manner.

This course can also be offered as a traineeship for 12 months, this type of enrolment will require you to already have an employer.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of a traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Can I Apply?

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course.

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use a online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.
