About this course

Course overview

If you are a newly arrived non-English speaking migrant and need help with your basic English, the Certificate II in Spoken and Written course will prepare you with the English language skills you'll need to continue to other English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at a higher level.

This course is also delivered as part of the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). The program helps new migrants learn basic English skills that will assist them to successfully and confidently participate socially and economically in Australian society. The AMEP is available to migrants from the family, skilled and humanitarian visa streams and provides up to 510 hours of English language tuition within the first five years of visa commencement or arrival in Australia.

An assessment prior to commencement will help determine at what level you join the course.
