After successful competition of the unit student will be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Entry requirements

The following are the admission criteria for the unit in place at IHNA:

Applicants must be aged 18 years or over.
Basic Level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) knowledge required to follow the theory & assessments and to demonstrate the practical skill components.
Basic computer skills required to complete the online theory and assessments.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply.
