About this course

English for Academic Purposes (EAP), prepares students for further study at a tertiary level and equips them with the communication skills required to excel in the workplace environment of an English-speaking country like Australia. Our EAP programme also provides a direct pathway into further study with IHM, including our Nursing and Social Work courses.

The academic skills you will learn in this programme are relevant and applicable to many areas of study and working life, including healthcare, business, the humanities and many others. As you progress through the EAP course, you will learn the skills required for higher and more challenging areas of study.

Entry requirements

You must be:

  • You will need to demonstrate your current English proficiency through the provision of test results which requires minimum (IELTS: 6 bands, PTE: 52, TOEFL IBT: 60-80, OET: C) at time of application and/or be asked to complete an internal placement test.

Participation requirements

When studying in Australia on a student visa, you are expected to meet all attendance requirements (minimum 80% attendance). The participation of international students will be monitored by the college and you may receive a warning if your attendance does not meet your obligations.
