University Preparation Course (Education)

This course offers an entry pathway into selected undergraduate teaching degrees at ECU.

It prepares students for university-level study by teaching them the required skills for academic success, with an emphasis on the student becoming an independent learner.

The course is suitable for both recent school leavers and mature age students who have not studied at university previously, and for educators seeking professional development, which leads to entry into selected teaching degrees.

• Apply broad factual, technical and theoretical knowledge required to be an independent learning at university (AQF IV,1)
• Apply broad factual, technical and theoretical knowledge required to support teaching and learning (AQF IV,1)
• Use cognitive skills to identify, analyse, and compare alternative solutions to select appropriate educational resources for a variety of contexts (AQF IV,2)
• Communicate solutions and use specialist technical skills to a defined set of predictable and unpredictable teaching and learning challenges in education environments (AQF IV,2,3)
• Act responsibility for functions and output for self, and with limited responsibility for the organisation and output of others in collaborative education settings. (AQF IV,3)
