Associate Degree
The Associate Degree will provide the freedom of choice to start up a mining career or be a stepping-stone to further study. This degree prepares students for entry to the Bachelor of Science (Mining) and subsequently Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) (Honours).
Mining specialists work with mining engineers in conducting safe and efficient mine production operations. Students with sufficient background in mathematics, sciences and technologies along with strong communication skills pursue a successful career as mining specialists.
These courses provide a comprehensive knowledge in fundamental mathematics and physics, applied mechanics, material science, engineering design, geology, geomechanics, construction, mining technology, computing and environmental science, particularly those aspects concerned with conservation of the environment, health and safety, ventilation, pollution and management of people and resources.
In order to enrol in the Associate Degree you must have completed, or are currently studying, the Advanced Diploma in Metalliferous Mining from the Kalgoorlie Central Regional TAFE.
