Introduction:With the rapid growth of the resources and infrastructure sector, civil construction has become one of the top demanding fields in Australia. Therefore, studying in this qualification provides you with multiple employment opportunities to be successful in the civil construction field. With the successful completion of the qualification, you will have developed skills and knowledge to work as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. The tasks that you will perform in these roles are broad, specialised, complex, and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. You will also be able and responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client's site requirements and are required to demonstrate the self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Entry requirements

You will be able to enrol in this qualification if you can demonstrate the following.


Be 18 years of age or above
Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the Business Services Training Package (current or superseded equivalent versions);
Have achieved one of the following English language requirements.

IELTS Test Score of 5.5; OR
TOEFL (iBT) Test Score of 46; OR
PTE Academic Test Score of 42; OR
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) Test Score of 47; OR
OET Pass Grade; OR
TOEFL (PBT) Test Score of 527 (only if IELTS is not available); OR
Currently studying in Australia and have studied for a period of 6 months or more at AQF Certificate IV level or above.
